The story of Rustic Restorations began with a family visit and a passion for restoration. While visiting his family’s log cabin in Upstate New York, Gene Maddalena, II noticed the property was in desperate need of repair. After researching the safest and most effective way to remove old stain from the logs, he discovered sandblasting was the ideal solution. With guidance from others and a rented setup, Gene took on the project himself—bringing the cabin back to life, log by log.

As he worked, passers-by took note of his dedication, work ethic, and eye for detail, quickly asking if he could help with their own restoration projects. That’s when Gene recognized an opportunity perfectly aligned with his passions: working outdoors, restoring aged structures, and breathing new life into forgotten equipment. In 2020, Rustic Restorations, LLC was officially launched in the greater Plattsburgh, NY region—and Gene’s mobile sandblasting services have been in high demand ever since.

Thanks to word-of-mouth and a reputation for quality, Gene has expanded well beyond log cabins. A partnership with Taylor Rental in Plattsburgh, NY has provided a local base of operations where he now restores trucks, tractors, trailers, automobiles, parts, and more. His mobile service also takes him to residential properties, commercial sites, and industrial settings—handling everything from graffiti removal to patio furniture refinishing.

In 2022, Gene extended his services to his home region of Hunterdon County, New Jersey. Teaming up with his brother Jeff, the two now proudly offer mobile sandblasting services to this rural and scenic part of western New Jersey.
